Tutorial
If you want to get a broader view of
an area, zoom out to increase the scale The map scale shows the magnification of the map, showing the relative
size. The lower the number, the more detailed and "zoomed-in".
In this section you practice zooming out, and zooming to the full extent of the map.
Try it out!
Click in the map to zoom out a fixed amount.
Zoom out with a box
With the mouse, draw a (blue) box around an area. The smaller the box, the greater the zoom.

Release the mouse button. The scale increases. Because of the large amount of data, this may take some time.
Try zooming with different sized boxes.
Check
the Scale
box after each zoom to see the
difference.
Check the position in the Overview Map.
Use
Full Extent
on the Main
Toolbar to zoom out so that
the entire map is visible in the main window. You will not be able to
see all the detail at this level, but you can use it to start over somewhere
else, keeping the same layers.
