Measure Distance or Area

Use Measure on the Advanced Toolbar to measure the actual distance of a line (in feet) or the area of a shape you draw in the window.

Measure a length

  1. Click the Measure tool. The cursor becomes a + crosshatch, as seen in the image below.

  2. Click using the crossing point of the cursor on the beginning point of the distance you want to measure in the main window.

  1. Click the end point. The line appears in black and the distance (in feet) is shown across the line.

Measure an area

  1. Measure the first line as above.

  2. Continue clicking the corners of the shape.

  3. Close the shape with a double-click on the last corner (not the first). The area is shown in a yellow box near the shape.
