You work with two different types of images in GeoViewer:
The layered map in the main screen
Documents linked to features
on the map through HotLinks
.
The maps you view in GeoViewer Online are layered images, but you can save them in PDF format with the Print tool from the Main Toolbar.
Note: If you are
using Windows XP, you may see the little picture toolbar
that you can use to save, print or e-mail the map view.
Using the MS Office Document Imaging program
When you view a Hotlink, it opens as a default in the MS Office Document Imaging program, shown here. It has a number of useful tool to use when you are viewing the document. If you let your mouse hover over the tools, you can see what they can be used for.

Besides the normal functions, such as Save, Print, Zoom, Pan and Rotate, there are several others that might prove useful:
In the top toolbar:
Reading View provides a full-screen view of the document.
Find text if the document has been scanned for Optical Character Recognition (OCR)
Perform OCR
Send OCR text to Word
At the right end of the lower toolbar are various annotation tools. You are annotating a copy of the actual document, not the stored version.
Pen and Highlighter.
You can change both the color and the thickness by clicking the little
arrow next to the tools. Chisel is very good for writing on a black background
as in these pictures.
Insert text box for new documentation
Insert picture
Select an annotation to change its color or thickness, move it or delete it.

When you are through, you can save the annotated document, print it, or send it by e-mail.
Setting your default Document Viewer
If you prefer to use another viewer than the MS Document Imaging, you can change the settings in the Windows Control Panel.
